Admit rates and aid averages come from each college’s most recent Common Data Set or official admissions report; cost of attendance is the 2026-27 published figure (out-of-state for public universities) unless the profile notes otherwise. “Not published” means the figure was not available in an official source we could confirm. Open any profile for sources.

How We Build and Verify Each Profile

  1. Primary sources only

Admissions, aid and outcome figures come from the college’s own Common Data Set. Costs come from the official 2026-27 cost of attendance page, endowments from the college’s financial reports, and deadlines from its admissions site. We do not use rankings sites or third-party estimates.

  2. Checked twice

A second reviewer reopens every source and confirms each number. Anything that cannot be confirmed is removed rather than estimated.

  3. Cited line by line

Every figure carries a numbered citation that links to the exact source, so families and counselors can check it themselves.

  4. Strategy, not just stats

Each profile adds ConnectPrep’s read on the early round, testing, competitive majors and the deadlines families most often miss.

College Profile FAQs

Where does ConnectPrep get its college data?

From each college's own published sources: its Common Data Set, its official cost of attendance page, its financial reports for endowment figures, and its admissions pages for deadlines and policies. Every figure on a profile is numbered and linked to the original source, and each was checked a second time against that source before publishing.

What is the Common Data Set?

The Common Data Set is a standard questionnaire that most colleges complete and publish every year. It reports applicants and admits, early decision results, test score ranges, financial aid averages, graduation rates and degrees awarded in the same format, which makes colleges directly comparable.

Why do some profiles show fewer statistics?

Some colleges publish their Common Data Set only as a spreadsheet or behind a download tool, and a few have not posted a recent year. When a figure could not be confirmed in an official source, we leave it off rather than estimate it.

Which colleges have the lowest acceptance rates on this list?

Among the colleges profiled so far, the lowest published admit rates are California Institute of Technology (2.6%), Stanford University (3.8%), Harvard University (4.2%). Each profile shows the source and year.

Which colleges give the largest need-based grants?

Among the colleges profiled so far, the largest average need-based grants to first-year students are at Williams College ($80,302), Princeton University ($79,320), University of Chicago ($78,651), according to each school's Common Data Set.

How often are the profiles updated?

We review each profile when colleges release a new Common Data Set, new cost of attendance figures or new deadlines, and at least once per admissions cycle. The update date is shown at the top of every profile.
