Executive Summary

Since 2013, ConnectPrep has delivered 1:1 SAT preparation to thousands of students across the United States and select international markets. This report summarizes aggregate score improvement data from the firm's proprietary records over the 12-year period from 2013 through 2025.

100%BS/MD program admission rate

For comparison, the College Board's published longitudinal data on commercial SAT prep typically reports average gains in the 30–90 point range for self-study and large-group courses. ConnectPrep's 250+ point average reflects the firm's 1:1 instructional model, founder-vetted instructor pool, and proprietary curriculum updated each cycle to current SAT test specifications.

Methodology

Population: All ConnectPrep students who completed a full SAT preparation engagement — defined as a diagnostic test plus a minimum of 12 hours of instruction plus at least one post-prep official SAT administration — between January 2013 and December 2025.

Score sources: Official College Board SAT scores reported by students and their families upon receipt. Pre-prep baseline is the highest official SAT or PSAT score on record at engagement start. Post-prep score is the highest official SAT score after completion of the engagement.

Improvement metric: Total-score delta (post minus pre), measured on the current 1600-point SAT scale. Scores from the prior 2400-point scale (pre-March 2016) were concorded to the 1600 scale using the College Board's official concordance tables.

Inclusion criteria: Students with both pre and post official scores on file. Students who tested only once or who withdrew before completing 12 instructional hours were excluded from improvement calculations.

Limitations: This report draws from a self-selected population — families who chose ConnectPrep and completed paid engagements — and is not a randomized controlled trial. Score improvements reflect both instructional effect and student effort and practice volume.

Key Findings

  1. Average improvement: 250+ points. Across the full 2013–2025 cohort, ConnectPrep students improved their SAT total score by an average of more than 250 points on the 1600 scale.
  2. Largest gains in the 1000–1300 starting band. Students entering with baseline scores in the 1000–1300 range showed the largest absolute improvements, reflecting the room-to-grow nature of the middle band and the targeted skill-building emphasis in ConnectPrep's curriculum.
  3. Top-band students sustain meaningful gains. Students entering with baselines above 1400 — typically the hardest band to move — still showed measurable improvement, with many reaching 1550+ on official test day.
  4. 97% top-3 college placement. Among ConnectPrep students who also engaged with the firm's admissions counseling, 97% were admitted to one of their top three ranked colleges.
  5. 100% BS/MD program admission rate. ConnectPrep students advised through the firm's BS/MD program advising service have been admitted to every BS/MD program in the United States, including the most selective combined-degree programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the source of the data in this report?
All data is drawn from ConnectPrep's proprietary student records system, which tracks pre-engagement baseline scores, instructional hours delivered, and post-engagement official SAT scores reported by students and families. The report covers the period from January 2013 through December 2025.
How is "score improvement" calculated?
Score improvement is calculated as the difference between a student's highest pre-engagement official SAT or PSAT score and their highest post-engagement official SAT score, both measured on the current 1600-point scale. Scores from the pre-2016 2400-point scale were concorded using the College Board's official concordance tables.
Why is ConnectPrep's average improvement higher than other published figures?
Most published SAT improvement figures come from self-study or large-group courses. ConnectPrep delivers 1:1 instruction with founder-vetted instructors and a proprietary curriculum updated each cycle, which produces materially larger gains than scalable group formats.
Can I cite this report in my own research or article?
Yes. Please cite as: ConnectPrep. (2026). ConnectPrep Annual SAT Score Improvement Report (2026). Westport, CT: ConnectPrep. For methodology questions or custom data cuts, contact ConnectPrep directly.
